It’s the perfect introduction to Stockholm as you get to know your way around the oldest part of the city.

Next is the Royal Palace, the King’s official residence and one of the largest palaces in Europe, with over 600 rooms! On a guided tour of the palace, you’ll visit the Royal Apartments used for state functions and go underground to the Treasury to see the Swedish crown jewels. Depending on the time of your visit, you may even witness the iconic Changing of the Guard featuring marching bands and horse-mounted guards. Day 2: Stockholm’s Culture & Archipelago Cruise

Impressive display of the Vasa ship at the Vasa Museum in Stockholm, Sweden, showcasing the well-preserved maritime vessel with intricate wooden carvings under dramatic lighting.
Vasa Museum, Stockholm, Sweden

Start your second day by visiting 3 of Sweden’s most famous museums on Djugarden Island, starting with the Vasa Museum. This museum is unique, featuring the fully intact 17th-century warship Vasa, which sank on its maiden voyage. No other museum houses a ship of this size and historical value. The museum features interactive exhibits to tell you about the shop’s history, those who built it, and what life would have been like on board.

Your next attraction is the Skansen Open Air Museum, and like the Vasa Museum, this will also give you a fascinating insight into life from Sweden’s past. Skansen Open Air Museum was the world’s first open-air museum designed to highlight Sweden’s traditional day-to-day life before industrialization. You can visit traditional houses from different provinces and a 19th-century town quarter featuring a bakery, a shoemaker, a pharmacy, and more.

Your final museum of the day is a trip to the ABBA Museum, an interactive tribute to Sweden’s pop icons. You can sing in virtual booths, try on stage outfits, and learn all about the backstory of one of the world’s most famous music groups.

After a busy morning exploring Stockholm’s museums, it’s time for a more relaxing second half of the day with a luxury cruise of Stockholm’s Archipelago. Travel by boat with your private guide as you explore one of the world’s most stunning coastal landscapes, seeing tiny islands, cottages, and pine-covered shores. We’ll stop at charming islands like Vaxholm, where you can walk along the harbor, visit the island’s old town, or relax at some seaside cafes. During the cruise, you’ll have the opportunity to swim in the Baltic Sea or watch on as your friends or family jump in for a dip! As you journey back to Stockholm, enjoy stunning coastal views and even see some local wildlife like sea birds and seals on the way.

As you return to the mainland, enjoy fresh and locally produced seafood in a restaurant with stunning harbor views. If you don’t like seafood, your tour planner will find somewhere to enjoy the foods you like and still enjoy the water views.

Day 3: Uppsala & Sigtuna

Sunset view of Uppsala Cathedral, a historic landmark reflected on River Fyris in Sweden, capturing the serene beauty and architectural elegance of the site.
Uppsala Cathedral, Sweden

For the 3rd day of your tour, enjoy a full day in the Swedish countryside, visiting the historic towns and cities of Uppsala and Sigtuna.

Enjoy a scenic drive through the Swedish countryside on your way to the ancient university city of Uppsala. Enjoy a guided tour of Uppsala Cathedral, the largest church in Scandinavia! Admire the cathedral’s beautiful Gothic architecture and see the famous burial sites of King Gustav Vasa, who led the battle for Swedish independence, and a shrine dedicated to Saint Erik, the patron saint of Sweden.

From the cathedral, your private guide will lead you to the Gustavianum Museum, which was once the main building of Uppsala University. You can visit the infamous 17th-century theater where doctors once performed public dissections. Following that eerie experience, the museum also features a fascinating Viking exhibit! You can see ancient Viking artifacts like helmets and swords that were all found in the local area.

After lunch, step back in your luxury executive vehicle with your driver guide as you head to Sigtuna, Sweden’s oldest town. Your guide will lead you on a walking tour through the town, strolling along cobblestone streets with colorful wooden houses. The highlight of your time in Sigtuna is seeing the historic rune stones, large rocks with writings carved into them from the Viking Age. See carved messages that honor individual people from that time, often including where they died, like a famous battle. It’s a unique way to gain an authentic glimpse into Viking life.

Your 3rd day is drawing to a close, and the perfect way to finish your time here is to raise a toast as you enjoy a traditional Swedish coffee or a glass of wine on the edge of Lake Mälaren. After you are done enjoying the lakeside views, your driver guide will return you to Stockholm, where you can unwind ahead of an exciting 4th day!

Day 4: Tyresta National Park

On Day 4, set off on an exciting adventure with your driver guide to experience the beauty of one of Sweden’s ancient forests with a trip to Tyresta National Park. You’ll first stop at Tyresta Village, where your guide will help you get oriented at the visitor center and talk you through the day ahead. You’ll begin with a private guided hike through the forest, walking past ancient pine forests and stunning lakes while listening carefully for bird songs and watching closely for animal tracks and rare flowers. There are several shorter and longer hiking trails available, so you will never need to walk more than you’re comfortable with. Your guide will speak to you to establish which trail is the most suitable based on your preferences.

Enjoy a traditional Swedish Fika by the lake. Fika is a Swedish custom where you’ll enjoy freshly brewed coffee or tea, which is often served with pastries such as cinnamon buns (kanelbullar). Enjoy a variety of tasty pastries and sandwiches as you admire the peaceful lakeside atmosphere.

If you still have the energy for another hike, your private guide can lead you through another part of the forest. If you feel like you’re done hiking for the day, we’d recommend spending some time in Tyresta Village. You can pass the traditional wooden houses, visit the small farm animal area, and embrace village life. Finish your time in the park by visiting a rustic Swedish sauna. These saunas use the traditional method of heating stones with real fire, meaning the heat is softer and more natural than modern saunas. Cool off with a lakeside swim, and if you then need to warm up again, feel free to get back in the sauna to repeat the process!

After a day of experiencing natural beauty, traditional Swedish fika, and rustic saunas, it’s time to get back in your executive vehicle for the journey back to Stockholm. Your evening is your time to explore the vibrant city or relax at your accommodation.

Day 5 – Stockholm Style and Design

For your private tour’s 5th and final day, visit Stockholm’s renowned design district, a beautiful food market, and potentially some more stops, depending on your flight time.

Your day begins with a visit to one of Stockholm’s most stylish neighborhoods, Östermalm. Your guide will tailor your time depending on your interests. You can visit some exclusive fashion boutiques showcasing Stockholm designers. Check out small craft shops where you’ll find hand-thrown pottery and handmade jewelry. There are also contemporary art studios and various home decor and furniture shops selling Nordic pieces. Once your guide knows which of these you would like to prioritize, they will lead you accordingly as you learn why Swedish design is renowned globally.

Visit Östermalm Saluhall, one of Stockholm’s most beloved and beautiful indoor food markets. The market is designed like a 19th-century food hall, with marble counters. Your guide will help you navigate the stalls, ensuring you get to taste everything you would like. You will find gravad lax (cured salmon), västerbotten cheese, reindeer salami, and handmade chocolate truffles, to name a few. You’ll also find artisan products if there are any products you would like to take home.

If time remains, your guide can tailor your final few hours. If there is anywhere you’d like to revisit, such as Gamla Stan or the Royal Palace, or explore new areas of the city, such as Biblioteksgatan or Götgatan. Whenever you’re ready, your guide will drop you at the airport for your flight home or to a location of your choosing.
