Spend the first 3 days of your private tour in the Swedish capital, Stockholm, where your private driver guide will collect you from either the airport or your accommodation.

Enjoy a luxury cruise on the Stockholm Archipelago, where you’ll spend the day sailing across this breathtaking landscape and stopping at some unique islands. Your first stop is Vaxholm Island, where you can explore the cobbled old town and visit Vaxholm Fortress. You’ll next visit the popular island Grinda, where you’ll start with a swim in the sea along the sandy beaches. When you dry off, enjoy a special lunch on the island before hiking through the island with coastal views.

When you’re back on the mainland, you’ll see the best attractions in Stockholm, including a trip to Djurgården, the home of the best museums in Stockholm. Visit a preserved 17th-century ship at the Vasa museum, and walk through Sweden’s past in a recreated 19th-century village at the Skansen Open Air Museum. Many people associate Stockholm with ABBA, and you can learn all about the iconic pop band at the ABBA Museum.

No trip to Stockholm is complete without visiting the enchanting old town district of Gamla Stan. It’s one of the most preserved districts in Europe, and your private guide will lead you through the old town, where you can visit local shops and cafes along the way. Gamla Stan has some fascinating museums also and you can enjoy a guided tour of the Nobel Prize Museum, designed to celebrate some of the world’s greatest minds. Walk in the footsteps of royalty with a guided tour of the Royal Palace, visiting the state rooms, and if you time it right, see the iconic Changing of the Guard!

Days 4-5: Gothenburg

On the morning of day 4, you’ll say goodbye to Stockholm as your driver guide takes you westward towards Gothenburg. You’ll stop roughly halfway through the journey in the small town of Örebro. Visit the famous Renaissance fortress, Örebro Castle, where you will embark on a guided tour of the historic halls and dungeons while your private guide tells you about the history of Swedish monarchs. After the castle, you’ll stop for a quick lunch at the local bistro before continuing your journey.

Stop for a coffee break in Mariesta, a small town on the banks of Lake Vänern, before arriving in Gothenburg in the early evening. Enjoy dinner in a handpicked restaurant by our local experts, and spend the night getting familiar with Sweden’s biggest city.

Your 5th day will be spent on a city tour of Gothenburg with your private driver guide. You’ll start with a guided canal boat tour as you’ll get to know the city via its waterways. You’ll then go to the oldest part of Gothenburg in the Haga District, renowned for its wooden houses, antique shops, and cozy cafes. After exploring the Haga District, you’ll then go above it to Skansen Kronan, a stone fortress with panoramic views over Haga.

Finish the day in the Gothenburg Botanical Garden, one of the largest in Europe and home to over 16,000 species. You’ll walk through the park with your guide, admiring the plants, flowers, and picturesque gardens throughout.

Day 6: Coastal Day Trip From Gothenburg

Smögen, Sweden

On your 6th day, head on an exciting day trip to Smögen & Fjällbacka, one of Sweden’s most treasured coastal regions.

You’ll start in the lively harbor town of Smögen, walking along the wooden boardwalk with colorful boathouses, artisan shops, and seafood stalls. Your guide will take you along the Smögen Cliffs Trail, listening to the sounds of the crashing waves and seabirds above. All this walking will build up an appetite, and you’ll enjoy a memorable lunch, sea views, and the chance to try some of the town’s fresh seafood.

After lunch, your guide will take you further north to Fjällbacka, a picturesque village by the sea. Start at Kungsklyftan Gorge, a dramatic rock crevice that readers may be familiar with from Camilla Läckberg’s crime novels. A short uphill hike takes you through the gorge to a lookout point with panoramic views over the harbor and archipelago.

Take some time to walk through the quiet village and shop for souvenirs such as handmade ceramics and Swedish textiles. You’ll walk through the Ingrid Bergman Square, named after the famous actress who used to spend vacations in the village. Finish up in the village with a final ice cream or fika (Swedish coffee) by the harbor and prepare for the scenic 2-hour drive back to Gothenburg.

This will be your final night in Gothenburg, so you’ll have the chance to revisit that restaurant you loved, or explore more of the city during your last few hours.

Days 7-8: Malmö

You’ll depart Gothenburg on day 7 and enjoy a scenic drive along Sweden’s stunning southwest coastline.

You can tick another city off your list as you stop in Helsingborg along the way. Your guide will take you on a walking tour of the city, through Stortorget Square and the gothic masterpiece of St. Mary’s Church. Helsingborg is situated right on the Danish border, and while you visit Kärnan Medieval Tower, you’ll enjoy panoramic views of Elsinore in Denmark, the home of Hamlet’s Kronborg Castle. A trip to Helsingborg wouldn’t be complete without a trip to the stunning Sofiero Palace & Gardens. The gardens are magnificent in the good weather, and your guide will take you through the sculpted lawns and flower-filled paths.

Stop for lunch and you’ll continue the drive to Malmö, Sweden’s 3rd biggest city. You’ll spend the rest of your 7th and 8th days visiting the best attractions in Malmö. You’ll visit your 3rd oldest town district as you head to Gamla Staden, filled with cobbled streets, pretty canals, and historic squares.

Malmö is renowned for its historic castles, and you’ll start at Malmöhus Slott, Scandinavia’s oldest Renaissance castle. You’ll head inside the castle, where it hosts several museums, such as the Malmö Art Museum and exhibitions on Swedish history, natural science, and photography.

After exploring the historic part of the city, you’ll visit the modern districts, starting with a trip to the Turning Torso skyscraper, the tallest building in Scandinavia. It got its name due to its design being based on a twisting human form.

Your city tour continues with a quick trip to nearby Lund, technically a city with a small-town feel. It’s known as a university city, and you’ll stroll through the Lund University campus and botanical gardens. Stop for fika before returning to Malmö for dinner.

Day 9: Copenhagen

On day 9, you’ll cross the Danish border into Copenhagen, just a 45-minute drive away. Cross the iconic Öresund Bridge that connects Sweden and Denmark, and arrive in the Danish capital. Explore Nyhavn with your private guide, a colorful waterfront, and enjoy a morning coffee while looking at the boats floating in the harbor. See historic attractions such as the Royal Palace, where you can witness the Changing of the Guard, and Rosenborg Castle, home to Denmark’s crown jewels.

With your private tour approaching an end, you’ll have an opportunity to treat yourself or your loved ones when you visit Strøget, one of Europe’s longest pedestrian shopping streets. Buy some clothing from unique Scandinavian brands you won’t find back home, and walk through the street’s hidden courtyards.

Enjoy a traditional Danish lunch, see the Little Mermaid Statue, and make your way to the Frederiksstaden district for a guided tour of the Designmuseum Denmark, celebrating Danish and international design and crafts.

Return to Malmö by late afternoon and enjoy a farewell dinner in the city on the final night of your tour.

Day 10: Farewell to Sweden

After a relaxed breakfast, your guide will tailor your final few hours depending on your departure time. Visit Kungsparken & Slottsparken, one of Malmö’s most scenic parks, where your guide will lead you past the canals, gardens, and sculpture trails. Take the remaining time to either revisit certain attractions, cafes, or restaurants you liked, or tell your private guide what you are in the mood for, and they will tailor this time accordingly.

Your private guide can drop you off at Malmö or Copenhagen airport for your flight home. If you aren’t flying home that day, just let us know a convenient location to drop you off.
